Story of Europe one-minute trailer is after the 18-second news report in this Youtube clip and before another 18-second news clip.
Australian historian Christopher Clark, PhD, who teaches at Cambridge University, hosted a magnificently filmed six-part, six-hour documentary on “The Story of Europe,” which is available on both Amazon Prime and Daily Motion as well as Curiosity Stream. It is of course difficult if not impossible to tell the 4000-year-old story of a continent in six hours without over-simplification to the point of caricature or cartoon. And yet, it’s a good introduction, beautifully filmed with enchanting , glossy pictures and places.
He divides the history of the continent into these six episodes:
- Origin and Identity
- Beliefs and Ideas
- Ambitions and Conquests
- Achievements and Rewards
- Commonalities and Divisions
- State of Play
Some critics, who do not believe in “European history,” and instead in the supremacy of certain European nations or tribes claim that the documentary is simply a justification for the European Union, but it cannot be so over-simplified.
